May 15th -- Happy Birthday To Me! And what a great way to spend my birthday!

Jim and I checked out of Motel 6 & stopped at a Golden Corral for breakfast where they had everything I could think of ever having for breakfast and then some! We arrived at the Seagrove Villas & Motel where Kristen & Jimbo were staying, and they were out on the beach. We joined them: Jimbo was at the pool, Jim laid in the hammock overlooking the beach, and I joined Kristen down ON the beach where I hid out from the sun under a big beach umbrella. What a life!

Soon I didn't have to hide from the sun anymore... it got cloudy and we could tell that it was probably going to rain, so we went inside. Kristen made me a delicious chicken salad croissant sandwich and we all watched TV and the rain falling outside, hoping that it would stop. It did so we decided to take a chance riding the bikes. Kristen & Jimbo were able to check out FOUR bikes from the motel even though Jim and I weren't staying there. So we all rode for free, which I thought was very nice of the motel!

We rode west from Seagrove Beach and passed through the little towns of Seaside and Watercolor without stopping. As we reached Grayton Beach State Park it felt like a good place to stop, look, and turn around... but of course we had to take a few creative photos and personal photos first!

During the ride back to Seagrove Beach, we looked around Watercolor and then stopped in Seaside to get Jimbo some shaved ice. Jimbo kindly shared it with Kristen and me and it really hit the spot! Jim got himself a hot dog & Coke. We rode around and looked at all the brand new homes & condos & the inn they're building in that area. There's an aerial photo of Seaside in the accompanying photo album. I couldn't shake the feeling of "Stepford" when looking at all the "perfect" homes and buildings! But it seems like a REALLY nice area. http://beachesofsouthwalton.com/Seaside_beach.asp

When we got back to where Kristen & Jimbo were staying, Jim and I had to hurry to get going. It was already an hour later than we planned to leave. We hit some heavy rain and there were a couple times it stormed on the drive home, but it was nice again by the time we got near Mobile and I got a pretty picture of the sun setting behind the downtown skyline.

So, this was a wonderful way to spend my ___th birthday (please do NOT fill in the blank!) I only wish Brian could have been there with us but he was working at his brand-new job at Wal-mart.
