Today was a day of touring and seeing lots along the way.  At Cactus Flats, SD we entered the area known as the Badlands.  Mountain formations were awesome and each took on a different look around each bend as the light hit the face of the mountains.  We saw prairie dogs as tame as could be.  Leaving there we headed for Wall Drug in Wall,SD.  Very corny but great goofy photos ops.  Mia and Caroline take note....
South Dakota has stone tepee structures at most of their rest stops.  Thought you might like to see a picture of one.  Next stop was the Black Hills Mountain in South Dakota.  There we viewed Mount Rushmore.  Leaving Rushmore we winded our way through the Black Hills thru stone tunnels, pigtail bridges, needles highway and ending at the Crazy Horse Monument.  This is a work in progress that began in 1948 and hoping for completion around 2048.  Crazy huh?
We ended our day at Roughlock Falls near Spearfish, SD.  On to Yellowstone tomorrow, weather permitting.

Hey
Loved the pix of the Badlands but my favorite has to be Sammy on the Jackrabbit- he's such a good sport. One would think you would be forcing him to pose in such silly places, but I have a feeling, it's mostly his idea!!! Am I right?
Glad you got to see Mr. Rushmore and now I have your picture of it b/c I have a feeling I will never get there! This travel blog is such a great idea b/c I am really enjoying seeing your pix and reading your wonderful descriptions of the sites along the way. You go Girl! I'm already lookng forward to the next chapter!

Props to your caption writing Mom -- Jackass on a jack rabbit is pretty classic. Loved seeing Mt. Rushmore. It must have been really surreal in person. It's such an iconic image. Keep on truckin'.
