Where I stayed
We had lunch at the Garden Café. Everytime we go in to the buffet one of the waiters sprays our hands with hand sanitizer and very pleasantly says, "Washy, washy, happy, happy, smiley, smiley." Sometimes in addition there is someone there playing a guitar and singing. Today for lunch I had a salad a chicken breast and a laugen roll. This is a German bread that tastes like a pretzel. Yum! For desert I had bread pudding with caramel sauce.
After lunch we sat and read on the promenade deck. This is Deck 7 and is the one you can walk all the way around. At 2:00 we headed for the Bliss Lounge for Trivia. Francis asked us 20 questions on a variety of topics. We got 11 right and won. So we got two more spaces signed off on our game cards. Then we went on the back of Deck 12 and read for awhile at a table in the shade. Erin and I took off for a Tap Dance class at 3:30. We learned a lot of the basic steps and a short routine. It was easy and fun for us as we had both taken tap as children. At 4:30 we went to the Maltings Lounge for a Beer Tasting. Larry, Derek, and Erin tasted beer. I read my book. They tasted five beers: Amstel Light, Pilsner, Bass Ale, a Wheat Beer and Guiness. While the tasting was going on, the host would tell about the beers and give information on them. In addition there was a 10 question beer trivia interspersed. We didn’t do well on this one. We got one right. But it was a lot of fun. At the end there was a tie with two groups getting 4 correct. So they had one person from each group see who could chug a 16 oz.. beer the fastest. It was hilarious.
When we left there we went and changed for supper. We ate at the Summer Palace again. It was another good meal. For starters Derek and Erin had Corn and Cheddar Soup, I had quiche, and Larry had a Greek salad, but I ate his olives. For entrees Larry had the Chef’s Special Perch with onion rings and rice, I had lamb shank with mashed potatoes, rosemary gravy and carrots and beans, Derek and Erin had three cheese ravioli. The ravioli was three small raviolis. Derek was not full but Erin thought they were just right for her. For dessert Derek, Erin and I had Pineapple Cream Cake and Larry had Tiramisu. After supper we went back to the cabins and changed again for the game.
We went back to the Maltings Lounge and watched OSU vs Illinois. Ohio State did great. While they watched the game intently, I finished the two books I have been reading and kept up with the score periodically. We were all ready to retire for the night when the game was over. Erin and I blogged until we were ready to go to sleep.
