We got up about 8:30 and had breakfast. We went to the Orcas Village Market and got some things we needed.  We relaxed for most of the morning.  We packed a lunch and left about 11:00.  We drove to Eastsound, the biggest town on the island and turned onto the road to Madrone Point.  When we got to where the trail used to be there was sign that read, "Attention! This is Sacred Ground.  Leave Now!  The Lummi Nation."  We had been to Madrone Point and hiked the trail there years ago.  Larry said he read that the Native Americans had gotten the point back from the government and it was now private land.  So we moved on.

We headed to Moral State Park.  We drove around until we figured out that we needed a Discovery Pass to park anywhere.  So we went back to the arch at the entrance and got a pass at the ranger station.  Erin can use it in any state park for the next year.  We drove to the Cascade Falls Trail and hiked to the bottom.  We ate our lunch along the stream at the bottom.  Since it was clearing a little we decided to drive to the top of Mount Constitution.  It was still a little cloudy and hazy but it was a beautiful vista.  We could see Anacortes and Bellingham on the mainland as well as Lopez Island, Shaw Island and several other islands.  The tower at the top was built by the CCC during the depression.  We walked to the top and the view was great.  We spent a good bit of time just looking at the view.  We went to the gift shop at the top and I bought a pair of socks with woodpeckers on them and a wooden slug that says Moran State Park  to put on the side of a planter pot.  Then we went and hiked up to Sunrise Rock overlooking Cascade Lake.  It was a steep trail but the view was worth it.

On the way back to the cottage we stopped at the Market in Eastsound to get meat and cheese and more beer.  We also got a cookies and cream cake and rocky road ice cream for Larry's birthday.  Larry said his mother had rocky road the night before he was born and she always said that is what started her labor.  Later he remembered that is wasn’t rocky road but tin roof ice cream.  Oh well, we tried.  We got back to cottage and had beer and wine and zucchini bread for a snack.  Derek and I read for a while and Derek downloaded pictures to my netbook.  For supper I made Taco Salad with Doritoes and all the veggies I had cut up before we left.  All I had to do was brown the meat and add the water and taco seasoning.  We ate outside on the deck.  We went in shortly after to do the dishes and read some more.  Then we all played Fluxx a card game with continually changing rules.  We played four games and then went to bed.
