We didn't have to get up at the crack of dawn for this trip.  Derek arrived at our house in time for a 9:30 departure.  We had plenty of time so we stopped at Costco to look at a canopy Derek wants to get for his "Big Sale."  (He has a large permanent garage sale.)  He liked it and we hoped they would still have them when we get back.

We got to the airport in plenty of time.  Our first flight to Minneapolis loaded and left on time.  We left there late and got into Seattle about 1/2 hour late.  We called Erin to say hello from the airport.  Originally, she was supposed to come on the same flight which is why we booked it through Seattle.  But she couldn't get off work until Tuesday, so she is coming in Tuesday on the same flight.  While in Seattle we ate at the Alaska Lodge where Larry and Derek had craft beers.  Larry had Alaska ESB and Alaskan Freeride APA.  Derek had Alaskan Amber and Pike IPA.  I had Crab Nachos, Derek had a Turkey Wrap, and Larry had Ivar's Clam Chowder with House Potato Chips with Spicy Ketchup and Black Pepper Dips.

When we got to the gate they were just calling the first people to board.  We barely had time for a potty stop before they called our group.  We took off on time for the 5 1/2 hour flight to Lihue.  It was a beautiful day in Seattle and we could see Mts. Hood, Adams, Ranier and Helens out the left side of the plane.  Out the right side we could see Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains.  It wasn't long before we were saying goodbye to the West Coast.  It was a long flight with three beverage services.  We got the special juice the first two times, it had papaya, mango and pineapple in it.  Scrumptious!  The third time there were free Mai Tais which Larry and Derek had but I just wanted water.  We were getting really tired by this time.  Our plane got into Lihue at 9:18 which was 3:18 am Eastern time.  We got our baggage in an open air baggage claim.  It was very windy but still 70*.  Then we got the shuttle to the Alamo Car Rental.  It didn't take long and when we got out to pick out the car we had the choice between and standard car and a standard SUV.  The SUV had a lot more luggage room so we got a Hundai Sante Fe.  We left the airport and got onto Rt. 56 and headed north to Kapa'a.  It was only about 7 miles from the airport.  We stopped at the Foodland Grocery and got beer, Kaua'i Golden Ale from Hawaii Nui Brewing.

Waipouli Beach Resort was just a block away.  We pulled into the very full parking lot and found a spot.  Then Derek and Larry went to find our building and room.  When they came back, we unloaded and headed to our condo.  It is beautiful!  Larry and Derek stayed up until midnight having a beer.  I opened my door to the balcony and fell asleep listening to the wind in the palm trees and the waves breaking on the beach.
