We had no wake up call today. I was up before sunrise and got some good shots of the sunrise.  I had a shower and did some blogging and then got Larry and Derek up a little before 9:30.  We went to breakfast and then got on the coach at 10:35 for our trip to Tivoli World an amusement park whose rides were shut down.  Our objective was to take the ski lift up to the top of the mountain to see a falconry demonstration.  The ride up was about 15 minutes with great views of the Costa del Sol.  When we got to the top we found we weren't at the top.  There was a trail to the top with 360* views.  We could see the Costa and a couple of stone quarries along with lots of gated communities.  We hiked to the top as we had plenty of time before the demonstation.

At  1:00 the demonstration began with a golden eagle swooping down from behind us.  The falconer explained that usually the wind would come up the mountain from in front of us but because the wind was coming down the mountain the birds would have a harder time flying.  The eagle flew only twice and then wouldn’t anymore because it was too hard.  Next he brought out a condor who demonstrated why they have no feathers on their heads.  Because they are scavengers they eat the dead carcasses of other animals and need to get their heads inside the carcass.  They had build a little cave/hole on the ground in which they put some meat and the condor would stick its head all the way in to eat.  Next they brought out vultures and audience participation began.  They had us stick our arms out and the vultures would hop from arm to arm to get the "treat" the falconer had put there.  If someone was wearing a hat they would perch on their heads.  It was hilarious.  The vultures perched on both Larry’s and Derek’s heads but I could get good pictures because the falconer was between me and them.  Next they brought out and eagle owl which was huge and beautiful with red eyes.  The owl, named Olga, flew to a perch held by someone in the audience.  There was a bird from Africa called a Palmist, that flew to a palm branch someone held.  At the end of the demonstration they brought out a baby barn own and a baby eagle owl for us to see because they couldn’t do much flying because of the wind.  I bought a wooden sculpture of an owl that is also a whistle that sounds like an owl.  We went back down in the ski lift and back to Torremolenos by 2:30.

We took some of our stuff up to the room and then went across the street to La Garrelos for lunch.  I had gazpacho with fresh veggies.  Larry had a tuna sandwich and Derek had a chicken sandwich.  Then we walked out of the back of the restaurant and onto the beach.  We walked down the beach feeling the water with our hands and picking up seashells.  Then we went back to the sidewalk and walked back toward the hotel.  We went up Calle San Miguel which was literally up, up, up with lots of steps.  It was a pedestrian shopping area with shops on both sides.  I bought a Christmas present in one shop and a new backpack in another.  My old one which I have had for over 20 years is falling apart.  We went back to the hotel for a rest.  I tried to upload pictures but the Wifi was too slow, I couldn’t even get my email.

For supper we headed to the Worst Irish Pub in Spain, that is how they advertised, only to find out they didn’t serve food.   We had run into Paula and Mike and they had eaten at a Pizza Place next to Burger King, so we headed there.  I got a Margherita Pizza, Derek got Tuna and Larry got a Bolognaise which looked like hamburger.  After supper we headed back to the hotel.   Since the internet was so slow, I read my book until bedtime.  Derek watched TV and Larry was on his I-pad.
