Instead of eating at a second-class breakfast stop, we continued onto Monterey for some clam chowder or fish and chips.
I was five the last time I was in Monterey. All I remember were sea lions, good seafood and a pier carnival. It didn't look like anything changed. Everything is just smaller, only 'cause I grew.
Fisherman's Wharf is exactly what you might expect
Mike used his Sidekick to Yelp the best clam chowder in Fisherman's Wharf. The Old Fisherman's Grotto got the Yelp nod so that's where we headed. For $7 we got a giant bread bowl filled with creamy tasty clam chowder. I'm not sure if we were hungry or if the food was good, but at the moment it was the best chowder ever.
After 15 minutes of perusing and people watching, it was time to get back into the car and drive. The next part of the trip will send us on the famous PCH cliff drive before making a quick stop in Julia Pfeiffer Burns park to check out a waterfall.
