In June last year we sold our eponymous campervan (of Life In Brian blog "fame"). Yesterday we bought land and buildings in the commune of Sazaray! This is very rural France where our address is our names and the area. To describe it's location - we are right in the middle of France. Look at a map and jab a finger in the middle and you'll be in the right area. It's agricultural, still very traditional, and has lots of green lanes and hedgerows.

We've navigated the quagmire of buying with assistance and advice from lots of people (thank you!). Now we have the keys we have many other things to sort. The buildings appear to be in a good state of repair. The land (one and a half acres) is water saturated at the moment so we'll have to wait to start a veggie patch but maybe the winter swamp won't be the best location?!

Using photos from summer last year...

A little house at the front with a bread oven. Just one room with electricity, water in the summer, and a telephone line. Currently no upstairs (you have to climb up and through the roof to get upstairs) and the bit at the back is a potential extension.

Next to the house, old stables and at the back, a barn with a built in two room house but no electricity, no water, no sewerage etc.

And out the back, more than an acre of land with lovely big trees all around.

Lots of possibilities and we have loads of ideas! Now we need an eponymous property name for the not-travelling blog. Ideas so far are limited. Ideas for blog name or property name sought!

Alex and Laura,
That is brilliant news. Received with a little bit of jealousy!!
I'm so pleased. Hope you have a party to warm it up.

What about Chateauneuf Chêne... New castle of the Oak, assuming they are Oak trees in the picture. Bye Brian
