Woke up to early 03:40, got in our cab to the airport JFK at 04:00. Took our last American breakfast before boarding. One banana muffin and a double espresso, delicious.

Once on the plane I noticed that I had a free seat beside me, nice, too good to be true?
Yes it was, a few seconds later a stressed out Gangsta man was pumping his illegal Iphone volume to everyone in a 5 meters radius. Then a lady asked if I wanted to change seat and sit at the window totally cramped, I said "No way, but ask Gangsta man" To my surprise he agreed to switch seat, maybe he was just afraid of flying?

When we came out from the airport we were quite exhausted and fucked up, so we put up little resistance when an expert con man entered the scene. So we agreed to pay him or his family 40 dollars to take us to the bus station in Santo Domingo.
Once there we realized that we couldn't do a thing without some Spanish knowledge. Luckily we found an "angel" that could help us buy bus tickets to Sosua for our last money, for some reason our VISA cards didn't work in their ATM machines and on top of that there was some kind of holiday so all the banks were closed.

When a guy said "uno" we didn't know if he meant bus no one or if the bus left at one a clock or if the bus was supposed to leave in one hour. Neither was true it was bus no three and it was supposed to leave in fifteen minutes. We had to push ourselves through the queuing line, that was the system here no mercy in any way it was crazy since they had only sold tickets for the seats. But I didn't realize that until afterwards.
It was very hot and crowded on the bus (fuck I thought NY was warm but the humidity here was extremely high) we just hoped that it was the right bus and that it would take less than 5 hours to our destination. We also hoped that we would find a working ATM since we only had 5 dollar in cash left, not much money for 3 weeks. I also hoped that my water would last.
In this moment I thought "why the hell do I put myself in these kind of circumstances straight into the unknown, when I could be home sitting in my comfy IKEA chair watching Discovery on TV while sipping a cup of coffee".

But in some mysterious way it all worked out well. We got out of the bus and we got a wonderful taxi driver that stopped by a working ATM. Then I told him that we wanted "poco dinero hotel" he found a hotel 55 dollar a night with AC we didn't hesitate and after 10 minutes I was in the warm ocean swimming it felt great, finally in Cabarete.

It had been a very strange day, NY in the morning and Cabarete beachfront in the evening, unbelievable. The day ended at a nice beach restaurant under the palm trees while the mosquitoes had a feast on our blood (they had their own restaurant, suck all you can for free).
