A lot of people told us to travel 1.5 hours north from Backpackers Heaven Cairns and spend a few days in Port Douglas. The sun was finally shining, the beach and ocean was a welcome change from hectic Bangkok. Plenty for us to do in Port Douglas, more markets, shops and an afternoon spent on a crocodile farm. Willie and Lena's first kangaroo was spotted on the side of the road on our journey from the airport but at the farm they got to see crocs, kaolas, frilled necked lizards and many native birds up close. Not too close to the Crocodiles mind you, although the glass on our boat did look very thin!

Just north of Cairns, Willie noticed cable cars, he has now learned that if you show interest in something you are going to end up on it the following day. So himself and Michelle spent the morning going up 7.5 km to the village of Karunda in a little car, hanging from a cable! Two stops along the way, first for a guided tour through the rainforest and the second to check out Barren Waterfalls.

So we've hired a wagon and have 17 days to get to Brisbane, good job because we'd all still be relaxing on the beach in Port Douglas, we have a feeling however that there is plenty more to see on the east coast of Australia...
