well, so now the whole comp has finished.  itīs been a good one.  everything went to plan with very little hiccups.

there has been the most amount of media interest iīve ever seen in a comp from the local media, maybe as much as in 2000 when the aussies got a lot of paper and tv time.  most days theres been journos and tv cameras etc talking to various peoples.

danni basically crewed on one of the scores desks the whole comp, start to finish.  she got to know the spanish speaking ladies doing the scoring too, and their kids!  did a great job.  i hung about and tried to help when something was needed and played the games with the world team.

was great fun playing with the aussies and the guys from the states, phillipines and canada etc.  always a learning curve especially in the deep pool.  we won a fair amount of our games but went down to the colombian elites, colombian U22 team and the USA.

in the end the colombians won the mens and womens grades over the USA, with our world team coming third in the mens grade and canada coming third in the womens.

the cameras and underwater viewing windows etc were awesome, heaps of locals came and watched and peoples parents and friends etc, and there were big crowds watching the finals from in the water too, just bobbing around on the sideline.

the prizegiving was at the pool and the party at a nightclub in town, lots of drinking and dancing.  my first drink of the night lasted a while...  vodka and lime in a tall glass?  5 fingers of vodka, no room for the mixer.  crazy.
