Where I stayed
Hong Kong Disney World
Although it was a few weeks ago now that I experienced my first ever trip to a Disneyland location, I felt that it was still necessary to recap the fun-filled day. So on a Sunday morning, Laura and I dragged ourselves out of bed by 8 am in order to shower and jump on the ferry that would take us to Hong Kong and a full day of Disney Park fun with our favorite professor. After navigating the MRT system in Hong Kong, we made our way to Disneyland Park entrance an hour later than we had said we would arrive. As we bought our tickets and walked up to the gate, we worried that we might have some difficulty finding our friendly professor, but just at that moment whose head should bop on by but that one Dr. McPherson! He too was running way behind, so through both all of our tardiness, things somehow managed to work out just fine.
As our day started and Dr. McPherson's energy level was at its peak when he discovered it was my first trip to any Disneyland anywhere, we made a plan about all of the places we wanted to see and set off. The most amazing part of the entire day was the fact that the lines were basically nonexistent, so we were able to work our way around the park with ease. Our first stop to space mountain which was the only real amusement park ride of our visit. After a fun little rollarcoaster ride in space mountain, we visited Its a Small World, which seemed very fitting for our situation. Following that we found some lunch for ourselves and walked around the majority of the park. It being relatively new was still quite small and modeled after only the Magic Kingdom areas of most Disneylands. Although this meant that there were not nearly as many rides and much of what was there was targeted at the youngest age groups, it was still able to provide me with an awesome look back some of my most favorite childhood characters and stories. With the rest of our day, we saw an awesome performance which reenacted the story of "The Lion King," watched an all-Asian high school musical performance (not my idea haha), saw a short Disney film in 3-D, and watched the parade as it marched through the park.
My first trip to Disneyland may not have been to the biggest or most extravagant park, but with the right company and just enough childhood excitement inside me still, it made for a great day. It just goes to show once again that everyday in Macau is an adventure and with a little imagination there are endless opportunities to create new experiences.
