An incredible day all around!  We began the day in Seattle, and took a ferry across the Puget Sound to the Olympic Peninsula. The ferry ride was great, and on the other side, our drive on Route 101 was fantastic. The incredible views included crystal clear blue lakes amidst soaring evergreens with mountains in the distance. As our destination grew closer, the girls were about to explode with the excitement of being in Forks, the setting for the Twilight book series. Today I took pictures of the girls in Forks, La Push, and the Quileute Reservation where the vampires, werewolves and Bella roamed!

At 1st Beach in La Push on the reservation, the ocean rock formations were spectacular and huge drift wood logs littered the beach. Later, some miles south, we walked a 1.5 mile trail through a forest of huge evergreens to reach the solitude of 3rd Beach.  I have never been on a beach that is totally untouched, with forest right up to the shore. It's hard to describe the incredible beauty of this beach. The ocean at mid tide left rocks and pools where we saw large star fish and sea anemones. Like 1st beach, there were giant rock formations along the shore and out in the distance. The sandy beach was pristine and nearly empty. The Olympic National Forest here includes almost a million acres of protected land & coastline. 

Tomorrow the girls want to explore all the shops in Forks to find Twilight treasures!
