There were several castles along the river higher up on the hillsides and tucked in the greenery. We finally got off and met our bus driver who took us to a small town (the name I can't remember :( ). It was high on a hill with an old run down castle but beautiful views. It had underground passage ways as well that led to an underground well. We climbed to the wall of the castle and took some stunning pictures of the surrounding area. The views were truly stunning.
After this short detour we returned to Heidelberg and picked up the rest of our group before making the drive to the final city if our tour Frankfurt. We didn't see much of the city because we arrived so late. But we all got dressed up in cute dresses and high heeled shoes and took the train to their downtown district. There we had our farewell drink as a group before breaking off and doing our own things. Te people I became closest with broke off together and walked up and down the bar lined street. We mingled with the locals, drank a ton, danced and overall had an amazing last night.
On a side note...the streets were all cobble stone so you can imagine what walking on those in hi heels was like. Surprisingly I was more steady while intoxicated than I had been sober. We ran into some American soldiers who were stationed in a nearby town and had drinks with them. Then it was time to go back to the hotel and get a few hours of sleep before our flights early the next morning.
Overall it was an amazing trip and I made some great friends and had terrific experiences. I'll never fir get it and will have this blog to remember it by.
