I flew into Vegas and met up with Jessica who had already been in Vegas
for a few days for a work conference. We went out to Bobby Flay's
restaurant, Mesa Grill, and had the most amazing lunch. We both got
the tasting menu starting with duck tacos, scallops as my main course,
and a neapolitan-puff pastry creation for dessert. I had a margarita,
which was very good considering my strong dislike for tequila.
Jessica and I had tickets that night for the Cirque de Soleil show Love at the Mirage. It was amazing.
I love the Beatles and the acrobatics were phenomenal. After the show
we went to the dueling piano bar. We had beer and watched the 2
amazing piano players play every song that you could think of. I put
in a request for Rhianna's Umbrella but that seemed to be the only song
they didn't know. Then we went out to a dance club in the Paris
hotel. It was small by Vegas standards but I really liked it because
there weren't that many people on the dance floor, so Jessica and I
could take over. You have to understand that when Jessica and I dance
we need space because there are a lot crazy moves happening. She is
definitely my favorite dance partner. We continued drinking and
dancing and met a couple of cute guys that we danced with some and had
late dinner with at 3:00am at cafe in the Paris hotel.
While we
were having our dinner Eryn and Kevin finally made it to Vegas from San
Francisco after an excruciating 10-hour car ride. We said goodnight to
our "dates" and called it a night. The next day we walked around the
hotels. At the Bellagio we saw the "Oceans 11" fountain, glass Dale
Chihuly ceiling sculpture, and a chocolate fountain. Too bad
tourists are not allowed to sample it or shower in it. While at the
Bellagio, Kevin's and Eryn's friend Darryl and Jonathan met up with
us. By the way, all 6 of us were staying in the one Bally's room, a
bit of a squeeze but not that bad.
That night we all got ready
and drank in the room together and I'm pretty sure there is embarassing
footage somewhere of me falling while Jessica and I were jumping
between beds. After dressing to the nines and pre-gaming in the room
we went to Banque, the newest club at the Bellagio. It was as big and
fancy as dance clubs come I suppose. It was packed and drinks were so
expensive. The 6 of us all danced together rotating partners every now
and then. We danced all night. When we were leaving I took off my
shoes for the long walk back to Bally's. Okay, its not all that long
but when you are kinda drunk and very tired it is. At some point I
dropped one of my new Michael Kors wedges and lost it. Jonathan and I
retraced my steps for a while but no luck.
The next morning I
woke up before everyonw else and enrolled in a poker tournament at
Bally's for $65. I did ok for a while until I went all in with a
decent hand and got beat out in one fell swoop. It was ok though, I
got my taste of gambling and I didn't have to sit there all day
playing. Everyone but Jessica and me left on this day. She and I got
massages at Bally's and stayed at their spa for a couple of
hours in the hot tub, sauna and steam room. It was so relaxing and
revigorating.
I felt just so loose I guess. She and I had one more night one this
leg of the trip. We kind of blew it though. We were both tired from
the previous nights' drinking and the day's relaxing massage. Anyway
we hung out in the hotel and talked and relaxed and listent to music
and called it a night.
The next day we hopped on a Virgin America plane to San Francisco.
