the transport is so hectic here too, when we were trying to navigate ourselvess round bangkok to look at temples we got hounded by tuk tuk drivers and driven to suit and jewlwry shops by the drivers to get their friends some buisness (they get commission if we buy anything)
. come on its me and matt-like we have money to but a suit!! when we told he man in the suit shop we didnt have any money he practically kicked us out!! We didn't even want to be there anyway!!!the buses are crazy too. they stop for a few seconds then start driving off again so you have to jump on them while they are moving. The same with the river taxis too. you have to board them by walking along some shoddy wooden pier where you have to basically walk doubled over because the cieling isnt high enough. then you have to leap over a massive gap between the pier and boat and hope youve done it at the right time so as not to fall in the river- health and saftey here eh!!!
oh yeah talking of health and saftey!! the craziest thing i have seen is a petrol station by day and a restaurant by nite !! comlete with candle lit tables!! un belivable!!
ah writing all this has made me smile though!!! im just at bangkok airport now waiting for england to open so i can try to sort out a flight to sydney, matts just gone back to england too which was really sad :-(
check out our photos of the temples- amazing
love lou x
Wow This place was hectic!! and so random. i absolutely hated it here at first afer the peace and tranquility of the beaches but then i grew to love it now i cant wait to come back. Its so CRAZY here. when we first got here (after our night on the sleeper train, which was very cool) we went to the weekend market which was crazy, it was so huge and hectic and i dont particuarly like shopping at the best of times!!i kept thinking how i couldnt wait to get back to some peace and quiet, we were staying on khao san road though so tthat was never gong to happen!! we were paying 1 pound a nite to stay in some sweat box where we had to share a toilet and coulnt sit on the seat because it was so dirty! we managed one nite and to cope we went out and got copletely wrecked!! we bumped in to our friend yoo who we met on the train to ko pagnan!! so random so we spent the nite with him and his thai friends getting wecked on straight thai whisky and singing very loud!! the next day we were feeling so wrecked and couldnt cope in our hot box anymore and splashed out on a nice airconditioned hotel which took american dollars ( so thankyou Clare and Michael for the treat :-)
