I gave my notice the very same day as my interview with Vince and Soph...
The manager wasn't too pleased that I was leaving so soon after just being hired, but he understood why I couldn't turn down the opportunity...

I left the following week on a train bound for Slough... a city only twenty minutes west of London...

I arrived at Slough train station, stacked my bags outside and sat down awaiting Soph...
She suddenly pulled into the car park in an old green army jeep and jumped out with an "Aowhite?" (How are you? or Are you alright? and also used as an answer to the very same question for those of you with a lack of London English English)

I began to pack my bags into the back of the jeep while Soph went off to search for the other worker, who was arriving on the same train...

I had just settled myself against the side of the jeep when Soph arrived with a pretty Kiwi(New Zealander) girl named Anita...
So this was the person I would spend the next six months working and living with... basically with each other 24/7... She seemed nice enough...

After our introductions and packing Anita's many bags and suitcases into the back of the jeep we flew off down the highway towards Pinewood Studio's...

The ride was quite short... Soph sped along the road like a boy racer... and after my interview with their early afternoon drunkeness AND the fact that the jeep didn't come equipped with seat belts or doors I was quite on the edge of my bench seat... and then in the centre for safety.

We passed through the security gates and arrived to find Vince standing by a big white truck...
Our new second home...
"Aowhite?" asked Vince...
They showed us the truck and all of it's equipment... and then took us for a quick visit to the production office... receiving security passes and fake smiles from the office staff...

Then off we went to see our new "first" home...
The apartment was delightful, fully furnished and set in the loft of an old townhouse... It was in a lovely little lanewith a park just down the way and a short walk through an old graveyard to the centre of town...
We dumped our gear and were guided to Vince and Soph's local...
A dingy, dim little pub wedged in between a chemist and a photolab... It truly looked out of place amoungst all the clinical commercialism... and in turn Anita and I felt out of place sitting at one of their dirty tables sipping cool beers and breathing in the stale smokey air...

We were joined by our new co-workers, Ash and Mitch, the chef's... They served the slop and we served the snacks...
Ash was a cocky young fellow and Mitch was a gruff tattooed older guy with a no-nonsense air about him...
"Aowhite?" asked Mitch...
"Aowhite?" asked Ash...
"Aowhite" said Vince...
"Aowhite" said Soph...

After a few beers and light conversation I realised that they really weren't my kind of people and that I'd avoid trying to become to friendly with them... just stick to professionalism...

A tipsy Anita and I went off to do some shopping and get ourselves some basic household goods...
We got all the essentials and some dinner for the evening... and 3 bottles of red wine...
It seemed Anita had the same tastes as myself...

We went home with a full trolley and began to settle into our new home...
