And so began another chapter in my life...

I landed in London in the late afternoon... A good friend Ali and his girlfriend Jorja picked me up from the airport and after some hugs off we went to experience the London Underground for the first time...

It was quiet on the train... Everyone sat and stayed quiet, some dozing, some staring out the window and others examining the floor between their feet... It was so quiet that Ali, Jorja and I seemed loud...

After an hour or so on the tube(train) we arrived in Tooting Bec, a south-eastern part of London and also Ali's neighbourhood...

I remember the strange atmostsphere of the streets... the foreign accents, the multi-culturalness, the clichéd red buses and telephone booths... It wasn't so different from home though... everyone spoke English on the streets... they just sounded funny...

We dumped my gear at Ali's flat and with grumbling stomachs, headed down the High St for some real English fare...

Curry!

he he... Yes Tooting Bec has got some of the best curry shops in all of England, supposedly...
My first experience was bad though...
I hadn't had too much experience with curries and so i just asked for something mild and meaty...
The evil cook gave me Jalfrezi...
One of the hottest curries i've ever had... needless to say i was sweating as i ate it and also the next morning on the loo...
Reminds me of a famous Johnny Cash tune... "I fell into a burning....etc"

My time at Ali's was an excellent introduction into London...
I soon began to look for work...
