So this is it, our last few hours in the U.S. for quite a while. We leave this evening for Paris where we will sit in the airport for 12 hours before departing to Bangui, Central African Republic. Last night we repacked the trunks for what seems like the 100th time. It's pretty amazing how much stuff we have been able to squeeze into 4 trunks and that this will have to last us almost a year. At 70 to 80 lbs apiece they are a lot of fun to deal with as well. In addition to the trunks Aanae, Lesley, and myself all have back packs, then there is the kid carrier, diaper bag, and umbrella stroller. It takes a van or suburban to get us to the airport. I'm really looking forward to dealing with all of this in Bangui!

We spent the past few days seeing some of the sights that D.C. has to offer. We did the Smithsonian Zoo where we saw Panda Bears, Gorillas, Elephants, Hippos, and Aanae's favorite, Lions.
It was good training for having a kid on my back as Evan and Aanae took turns riding Daddy. It was quite a workout but not as bad as I had expected.

Then we went to the Smithsonian Natural History Museum which we all enjoyed but it took a while to convince Aanae that the Dinosaurs would not hurt her. (lots of fun having a 3 yr old screaming at the tops of her lungs right in your ear while being simultaneously kicked in the back.)

Well if I can I'll make a post in France otherwise I'll make a post as soon as I can in Africa. I have no idea when that will be but it could be a while. So don't freak out if it's a few weeks. The infrastructure there is rough by African standards. So until the next time remember us when having a hot meal, cold beer, or soothing shower!
