Today marks the longest amount of time I've ever spent in transit.

Started off the morning bright and early by catching the Acadia Lines coach in Port Hawkesbury. The journey started off a little rough, as the driver had the heat cranked up high and I was feeling a little nauseous. But after getting some air in Antigonish I felt a lot better.

5 hour later, I arrived at the via rail station in Halifax and met up with my friend Laura and her sister for a bite to eat.

Nova Scotia has been stuck in the middle of rainy day after rainy day for the past two weeks, and today was no different. Of course, none of us had an umbrella, so we were thoroughly soaked by the time we made up our minds and then found a place to eat.

We ate at a place called... Henry House, I think? Some kind of pub-style place. The food was pretty good, and - even better - it had a fire place with a fire lit so it was nice and cosy and all our things dried fairly quickly.

Laura and her sister were bemused concerning my tiny carry-on suitcase, and how I managed to fit everything inside. (Sometimes, I even manage to amaze myself, lol). After that one time where I was separated from my checked luggage, I've vowed to only travel with carry-ons from now on if possible.

After supper and tea, we had to backtrack to the via rail station so Laura and Jesse could catch their bus back home. It was a short visit, but it sure helped to break up the afternoon (and was certainly more preferable to 9 hours straight of airport hell!)

So after they left, I waited for 45 minutes at the adjacent hotel for the airporter bus to take me to the airport. And can I just take this opportunity to say, Halifax drivers are crazy! Holy cow, it'll never cease to be amazed how these people can maneuver so quickly through such narrow streets. Just... wow.

Anyway, I arrived at the airport around 7 and puttered around in the food court for a little while, trying to kill time... because seriously, this is the EARLIEST I've ever been at an airport for a flight.

But, my boredom got the better of me, so I organized my stuff and then took myself over to the security check-point. And... I got screened for drugs...? At least, I'm pretty sure that's what happened. The officer waved a little wand over my hand.

Aaaaaand I just saw my plane being guided towards the gate. Won't be long now until boarding time! :-D

See you on the flip side!
