When my sister said she was going for a conference in Prague , earlier this, I jumped on it as I am nuts about travelling to Europe though, I didnt know much about Czech Republic. Then , my girlfriend jumped on it, next came YS and then PY. Suddenly , the trip became a reunion of my old varsity friends.

My earlier research on Prague showed me pictures of castles, St Charles Bridges, churches. Hmm , from my first impression, the city could be Salzburg, Munich or even Vienna. I wanted something different, something more out into the country. I found Pravcivka Brana which meant a 15km hike and I was sold by the many beautiful pictures and intrigued by the fact that not many have heard of this place.

We arrived in Prague rather early. The 12 hours on KLM no longer seem short. I used to enjoy these flights because they were late at night and I would sleep right through after the first meal. Age is catching up because I couldnt sleep all night.

Peter, our transfer driver was such a welcome sight as it meant that we didnt need to look for trains, taxi's etc. Peter turned out to be a gem and insisted on taking us on a short drive around Prague before checking in. We added hiring him for two more day trips later.

The apartment was just above the Mark & Spencer store - my favourite apparel store. Prague , fast developing and a hub of activity , yet it had a certain rustic charm especially the old part of the city . It was a hot aftertoon and we walked down Wencelas Square towards to the Old Town and stopped by a restaurant for our first meal and Czech beer. The beer was such a welcome sight but the lunch was quite disappointing.

After dunking down lunch and beer , we headed towards the Astronomical Clock and the Old Town Square, walked into Tyne Church and strolled towards Charles Bridge. It was a hot afternoon but the clouds started to gather as we stroll along Vlatava River towards the entrance of the Bridge. We decided to have afternoon at this lovely, cafe cum restaurant cum nightclub which had a lovely view of Charles Bridge.

Just as we started to leave, it rained heavily , with strong winds and thunder but it subsided as quickly as it started. We decided to pack food back to the apartment and enjoy our first Prague sunset from our roof terrace.
