I wake up early nearly 3.30 am and tossed until nearly 5.30 am. Darn it. I'm still jet-lagged.
I'm excited about driving out of Cape Town to Mossel Bay. Since it's a long drive, nearly 5 hours, I decided to get up and get ready. Breakfast again at the Holiday Inn express with its bacon and eggs are great. The boys got in late yesterday night and they gushed about the game. They had walked along the fan walk and the amosphere was like a carnival. Surprisingly, they said the game was very good with Netherlands 3 and Cameroon 1, even though Netherlands was already in the next round and Cameroon out - they still played entertainingly.

We had our breakfast and checked out. I'm going to miss the people at the Inn. It's a small hotel and the staff , you can see genuinely cared for us. They greeted us by name and were attentive to our needs.

It looked foggy and as we got on N2 and headed towards the direction of George, it was bad - so foggy we hardly could see 5 ft from the front of the car. Finally, about an hour later, the fog started to lift and we could now see the scenery. It reminded me of the South Island New Zealand, massive plains and sweeping mountains with patches of shrubs, very rugged, very beautiful. As we went further on, the fog had completely lifted and the sky was a clear brilliant blue and the trees that fringed the road reminded me of the eucalyptus in Australia. We could be in Australia if not for the black townships that we pass by or the blacks that are trying to hitch a ride from the side of the road.

We finally took a break slightly after Swellendam which was after nearly 21/2 hours of driving . We were too stuffed after breakfast and wanted to get lunch in Mossel Bay - trying for the lobster lunch which we missed at Fish Hoek. The petrol station was this huge stop with a convenience store, a restaurant and a small petting zoo. We just wanted coffee but could resist this local pancake stuffed with bacon with margerine and cheese. I asked them not to include the margerine and hold the cheese but still the you could see that it was deliciously sinful. We shared of course and drove on . I missed the instructions about moving on straight to George and went straight ahead towards Mossel Bay. I panicked because we were passing on what seem to be was the largest township I've seen so far . It was both side of the road and signs of water-stressed area was everywhere. This is S.Africa not at its best. One minute, you're on lovely roads and you see lovely houses that make you think you're in Europe and the next, its third world country looking straight at you.

We finally reached Whalepin B&B and its had  such a lovely view of the ocean that we fell in love with the place. We had an ocean view room while the kids had the room next to ours. Joy was such a lovely host and made us feel so at home.

We then drove to town to look for a good seafood place. Finally found one thanks to the lovely police office. The place was called the Sea Gypsy and had a nice shabby chic look to it . Ordered my crayfish ,scampi to go with the lovely SA white wine. So far all the SA white wine has been really good . We stopped by a giant shopping mall to pick up some snack to go with the instant noodle. Yeah, it was time for our quick Malaysian fix and just watched football in the room. Oh yeah, pickep up a nice bottle of wine. Yes gourmet dinner , instant noodle, white wine and soccer...

We had to wake up early the next morning as it was another long drive to Schotia Safaris and we had to be there by 2.30 pm. So early night after the match. The next morning, we woke up to the sounds of Joy and Louis preparing breakfast . The weather wasnt too promising - foggy, hoping Schotia will be better. But the breakfast spread was wonderful. It is the best B&B spread I have had and just before we left we saw Dolphins frolicking in the ocean. No whales but certainly Dolphin....
