We got up this morning, packed and headed for the ferry dock. We caught the 10hr boat to Phenom Penh. The boat wasnt too packed which made it easier. It was really cool catching the boat as we got to sit on the roof and take in the scenery and people along the banks of the Mekong River. The border crossing was easy enough.. we didnt have to do anything the guy on the boat did everything for us. We then transferred to a smaller boat for the rest of the journey. This was a little more uncomfortable but still ok butt we couldnt sit on the roof this time. After the boat docked had to climb aboard a minivan for the remainder of the trip.
We arrive in the capital around 6pm. We got dropped at a guesthouse we were told that was no good and were just about to leave when I put my hand in my pocket and discover that my wallet is no longer where it usually resides...FECKER! and a few other expletives were expressed. I ran out to see where the minibus was but it was gone. I told the guy at reception the story that I thoguht I left my wallet on the bus and asked them to ring them. He rang them and said the bus was going back to its base. I said how do i get there and he said Tuk Tuk (little 3 wheel motorbike with seats), I said.. eehhh.. no money.. money in wallet. Then he said it was a long walk and that I better be careful cause its not a safe walk..!!! Then I asked him to ring the driver. He got the drivers number and rang him but he was driving at the moment and would check in about 10mins when he stopped. I asked will he ring back and I got the blunt reply, No!. I then said can you ring in about 15mins.... I sitted around patiently while Nat panicked a bit with every bad scenario going thru her head all the while me point out that we might actually get it back...!!!! 15mins later I got a thumbs up for the guy and said the driver was on his way back with the wallet.. The driver returned with my wallet which he had put an elastic band around and everything was were it should be. Happy days and a happy tip to the driver and the guy at reception.. Out of gratitude we ended up staying at the guys guesthouse which didnt turn out to be that bad.
