Rained abit the next day, when we were headed to Ao Nang, the main beach area, so what's a girl to do but shop! A couple of tops, watches and complete Sex And the City series I was done for that day, oh, and of course my jewelry
We eventually got ourselves booked on some tour of the islands, which was actually a tour of Paradise. Crystal blue waters, white sand, pure perfection. Never wanted to leave. Practically every other beach we came to was like that. We were also dropped of a Monkey beach, where there a more monkeys than humans, very cute. I want one!
Fed the monkeys, being careful not to catch some horrible disease, then fed ourselves, a common thing on this trip!
Following day we set sail for Koh Phi Phi!
Arrived in some sort of mix match between paradise and sheer destruction, post Tsunami. After having a moment to take it all in and stop complaining about our tin can accommodation, the drilling and banging going on around us,(they are doing there best to re-build things as quickly as poss) we hit the beach, which as expected was beautiful, maybe different to how other people (pre Tsunami) had seen, but still!
Some of the hotels that had been built quickly looked out of place. They were big concrete eye-sore's, but always fully booked
Next day we went of a cruise around the island, again visited many paradise places, and eventually got to Maya beach, aka The Beach, which is alot smaller than it appears in the film. We know this as the film is on day and night in Phi Phi!
The boat we were on could only anchor in deep water, so many of the places i have no photo's as you swim to shore! But if you've seen The Beach, that's what it's like!
From there we headed to other parts of the island, and then to Monkey Island, where again you have to swim/snorkel to shore! So off I went, next thing I know some Israel girls are canoeing towards my head, and in a desperate state to avoid drowning I kicked some coral and lost my big toe nail!! Not a happy bunny!
When you're injured and on a boat trip, and having the Thai men tell you, that you need to go to hospital isn't the best thing, especially when you have to wait another 2 hours for the trip to finish!!
Rest of the trip wasn't much fun, but then eventually arrived at the hospital, if i could call it that, had the rest of my nail pulled off, and then had it cleaned and bandaged. The worst and painful experience of my life!
Rest of our time on Phi Phi wasn't much fun. Had to visit the hospital everyday, and it took me an hour to do a 15 min walk, and i couldn't get it wet, so what to do? I know I'll get a tattoo! Had a Bamboo tattoo, which doesn't bleed, and doesn't need to be covered. Not that painful either! So i leave Phi Phi, minus a toenail, but with a tattoo on my lower stomach. Sorry Mum!
