We met Sam the tuk tuk driver downstairs about 8:30 and set off (Mike had changed his mind about coming and decided to tag along). Bought our temple passes (I got a 3 day one, while Mike got the one day.

First temple we stopped at was Angkor Wat, the biggie! Sam told us we had about 2 hours and I initially thought that would be way too long, but the place is seriously so huge that we did end up staying for that time. We explored everywhere, in every small building, around the perimeter, even climbed the massive steps to the inner temple. We loved it, in spite of the intense het, we had a ball exploring here.

The next stop was the Angkor Thom complex consisting of several temples, the first one was Bayon, with it's towers and huge Buddha faces. Again we climbed up and down, in and out, took heaps of pics, when suddenly disaster struck. As I steped up and over into one of the temple rooms, it was dark inside and I didn't look where I put my foot, and twisted it badly, ending up in a heap on the floor. Ouch, a world of pain, I could hardly move for a while, so sat there trying to figure out what to do.

I managed to hobble out and along to the next temple, but one look at the massive stairs again and I knew I couldn't manage it. I positioned myself in a shady spot along the causeway and handed Mike the camera and he went in.

I thought he was just looking at the one temple and couldn't work out why he was taking so long, but in actual fact he had found a path connecting to the next couple along, which is why I ended up sitting there for 2 hours! When he finally came back, he then had to walk along the road to find our tuk tuk driver.

2 more stops, meanwhile my foot is swelling and extremely painful. The first one (name escapes me) Mike took a while going in and taking heaps of photos. Then Ta Prohm, the one I had really been looking forward to. We dropped Mike off at one gate and drove around to the other to wait for him. Sam realised that he had a flat tire and left me sitting at a local drink stop while he drove off to fix it. Waited for ages for Mike to come out, apparently he had really enjoyed it, this is the temple with tree roots growing out of and on top of the temple areas (the one where Tomb Raider with Angelina Jolie) was filmed. He got some great photos, but we laughed when we looked at his self portrait ones, he's not smiling in any of them! Very serious stuff, this taking photos.

Finally drove back to the hotel, and I hopped in as I'd taken my shoe off while waiting and couldn't put it back on. The staff brought me ice and I eventually made it back to our room. Mike went out and grabbed us some food while I lay on the bed with ice and foot up.
