Drove up into the Dandenong Ranges National Park, finally found a place to park (arrived about 10:30am and all carparks were absolutely chock a block) nearly 1km up the hill and started the walk up the hill. Probably did it in reverse as we missed the track to the start of the actual steps and went up the easier!! route, still had steps on the side but we walked on the dirt track for most of it. Mike and Alanna took off and left me way behind, I plodded along. It is probably only about 1.5-2kms one way, but all uphill so pretty tough. We split up when we got to the top as Mike and Alanna planned to come down the longer route, then climb up the steps. I went down the actual 1000 steps which was tough on the knees (I can just imagine how tough to climb up this way based on the puffing and panting of all the people I passed!). Met up with Mike and Alanna at the bottom and they had decided not to do it again as we would be pushed for time.

Drove to Cherry Hill Orchards (about 20kms away), was surprised to see how many cars in the carpark. Paid our $10 entry each and joined the queue to get the 'Cherry Bus' to the actual orchard. Had to wait about 20 mins but the whole setup was pretty organised and they have several buses shuttling people back and forth so it didn't seem too bad a wait. Arrived and started eating straight away. Perhaps put 1 cherry in the bucket while eating about 10! They were huge and delicious and so many of them! We were in heaven. Started to feel a little ill from eating too many so we had to ease up, but we filled up our bucked. Probably stayed about 1.5hrs in the orchard so I think we got our $10 worth. Paid for our cherries (we had picked 2.5kgs, paid $25), waited for the bus again, then drove to Sue's place for dinner before the drive back home to Hoppers Crossing.
