What a cool stop over.  The Homestead National Monument in Beatrice, Nebraska is impressive.  It tells the history of those pioneers who accepted the free land offered by the Federal Government.  This particular homestead claim by Daniel Freeman of Ohio was the very first one issued under the law signed by Abe Lincoln.
