My plane touched down in Turkey at approximately 4pm. My parents' plane (keep in mind I'm on a business trip with my father) was due in 20 minutes later. Our plan: to somehow meet each other between the Visa line and the Taxi line. Ha.
Somehow it worked. I was standing in line waiting to fork over my twenty bucks for a visa (Vietnam's is much more expensive: a multiple entry visa is 130 USD) I heard the distinctive voices of M+D Hansen. They had arrived.
So we piled into a taxi and took the 30 minute taxi ride to the Swissotel.

Mom and I had a few glasses of wine in the "executive lounge" and then we were on our way to Ortakoy, a charming very European waterfront neighborhood in Istanbul.
We had dinner at a lovely restaurant (it was one of 6 lining the river front... the man in charge of ushering guests into his restaurant's seating area, before the neighboring usher got hold of us was VERY convincing.) So food was great: lots of sea food. The fish was prepared in a very simple manner, just grilled with some buttery lemon sauce. And to start there was free flowing wine, and a lot of little appertizers. Calamari, eggplanty dishes and feta in tomato sauce, kidney beans in some other sauce, you see this stuff everywhere just never tell them it reminds you of Greek food.
Then we went home, took a few doses of Bendryl and went to bed.
