Back by popular demand, another Leigh Ann Parker blog. In reality it's really only my mother that is demanding this blog. Nevertheless, I'm starting a travel blog and this time it's on my own terms. Unlike my wildly popular first blog that was a class assignment (which you were all forced to read and comment on so I could get an A). Welp, hopefully the kids still got it. If nothing else, this will be a nice refresher course in South American geography a distraction from work for all my sweet friends scattered across the US.

My journey began with a quick Labor Day Weekend trip home to Austin. Aside from the debris of my parent's kitchen remodel it was good to be home, have home-cooked meals and see some familiar faces. Most importantly, it was nice to sleep in and have my regular 10am wake up call a la Izzy Fey, our half-brained lab. She's only 1, so maybe there's hope for her yet? We made it out to my grandparents lake house for a night, dog posse and all, and enjoyed the sunshine and the brisk 90 degree weather. I was informed numerous times that a cold front had just passed through. You don't say... Three days was nice, but anymore and I would have missed San Francisco's cool air too much. Here's to hoping that spring is a pleasant season in South America.

Speaking of my impending trip, I got my injections, bought my travel sized toiletries and stocked up on all the other unnecessary travel items one could dream of while I was home (thanks Mom...). After two solid days of running errands, I am officially ready for mi viaje magnifico.

Here are a few pictures from my weekend in Austin. Next stop, Gilb's amazing couch in San Francisco for 3 nights.
