Today I was meant to be heading on the bus to Milford Sound, but unfortunately the road was closed due to avalanches on the Milford Sound road. So the bus headed to Queenstown instead and I decided to go rather than stay another day in Te Anau. Today not much happened, I dossed around, spending some time on the Internet. I then went back to the hostel and met my roomates; Seth, Coco and Goonar. We chatted for a while and then they introduced me to their friends who had come into the hostel room to play drinking games, I learnt some new drinking games and chatted to some of their friends before heading out to a couple of bars with them. Today I felt slightly fed up with Queenstown, but managed to keep myself pre-occupied.
Day 64
Today I got on the Milford Sound explorer bus again for the second time hoping for good weather. However for the second day in a row the trip was called off due to another avalanche on the road. This time we were about 45 minutes on the road when we heard the news and had to turn around, naturally everyone was really frustrated. The remainder of the day was spent watching films, drop dead Fred and the Number 23. I also met up with Leslie (from Te Anau) by chance later on in the day as i was in town. I was quite glad to met somebody i knew as I wasn't getting lonely but a tad bit bored. So we went around the town, whilst she sorted out her skiing trip. We then did the Queenstown hill walk, as I thought she might like it. She loved it and again i enjoyed the great views from the summit. I have been thinking about doing skiing, but that money could be saved and spent in other countries on other activities that i can't do anywhere else in the world. Skiing can be done in many places so i am saving my money for the rest of my travels. In the evening we chatted and drunk in my room, with Seth, Coco and Goonar and the others. I got an early night, going to bed at 12.
