It was a really long flight (did I say that before???) but it really was a long, long flight.  I arrived in Taipei late because the plane left late.  It also took forever to get my luggage.  I was worried that Leah and Nick would think I missed the plane but they were waiting for me after I got my luggage and went through Customs.  They had a sign welcoming me written in both English AND Chinese.  So cute.  I LOVED it.

We had to get to Leah's from the airport which entailed taking a bus, a train (high speed rail) and a taxi.  The people here are so friendly.  They can tell we are tourists (if you can't figure out why, ask someone) and always asking if we need help.  Most signs are in Chinese and English so it isn't too difficult to get around.  Some speak English and some will get someone who speaks English if they don't.  

I first got to hear Leah's Chinese when she told the taxi driver where we wanted to go.  He acted odd when Leah got in the cab.  We think he saw me before he saw Nick and Leah and thought...."awww tourist" and when Leah and Nick got in the cab with me, he was busted.  However, we will never know what his problem was.

We got to Leah's apartment and sat and talked for a while then Nick went home and Leah and I went off to bed.  She is soooo sweet giving me her bedroom.  I felt special.  When we went to bed it was Midnight in Taiwan and 9:00 a.m. (the day before) in California....that is, if I did the math right.

Tomorrow, we are going sightseeing.
