This was the greatest experience. Riding our bikes through the squares of Savannah and River Street. The weather was gorgeous and it was a great bike ride. We started out following John & Lynn from the RV Park to Clary's with our bikes on our rack on the back of the car. We drove to Clary's where we had breakfast. Clary's was also in "Midnight...". Good breakfast. We left our cars parked on the street by Clary's. Since John & Lynn are the "locals", we followed them through the Squares of Savannah. I believe we didn't go through all of them but most. In one of the parks, John pointed out the bench that the Voodoo lady sat on, during (of course) "Midnight...". When I went to take a picture, there were people sitting on that bench but Southerners are soooooo polite, I told them what I was doing, they smiled and said they didn't mind. We sure aren't in California anymore. :) Around the corner from the Six Pence Inn, John stopped and showed us the neatest rain gutter, yes, rain gutter. It was a fish
. See the pics. One of the good things about riding our bike is you can stop at any time. I had a chance to take some good pictures.
After riding through the squares, we rode over to River Street and walked around with our bikes. Most of the road there is made of ballast stones so it was a bit bumpy to ride on.
Larry and Shirley didn't go bike riding with us but said they would join us later. After riding around a while, I called them and told them where we would be for a while. So, they joined us at "Gallery Expresso", the oldest coffee shop in Savannah. We didn't need coffee but fortunately for us, they sold wine. Hey, we've been riding bikes all morning! We needed it. We sat outside, had a glass of wine and enjoyed this beautiful day.
After coffee, uh I mean, wine. we went back to our cars, loaded up our bikes and drove to Bohemian Hotel at River Street. Larry and Shirley got there first and got us a great table outside overlooking the river. After cocktails and a snack, we headed back to the RV Park.
That evening, Shirley and I decided after seeing Savannah for two days, we needed to see "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" again
. Neither one of us had seen it in a while. We hopped in their car (Larry even had to disconnect it because he had already connected it to leave in the morning) and we headed for Walmart to buy the DVD. After searching and searching, we asked one of the sales clerks where it was and she pointed right behind us. (Duuhhhh). With DVD in hand, we drove home, made ourselves a drink, set up chairs outside and watched our movie with the Savannah backdrop. The guys watched football inside Larry & Shirley's rig.
I am really loving Southern Georgia, but it is time to move on. Tomorrow we are going to Yulee, Florida, to see Nola and Stuart. But, I'll be back.
