On September 22, we left Kennebunkport and headed for Foxboro, Massachusetts. Since one place I had wanted to see was Gloucester, we decided to stop there on the way. Rick & Flo went on to to Foxboro. We left our motor homes at a rest area, disconnected our car and Larry and Shirley went with us to Gloucester. Gloucester is a fishing town and the setting for the movie, "The Perfect Storm". We wanted to see the "Crow's Nest", the bar in the film and see Gloucester in general. It's also the location of a memorial to Fishermen lost at see.
We got to Gloucester and first saw the Fishermen's Memorial. It was a beautiful day (we have had such great weather on this trip) and we stopped and took pictures.
We got to the Crow's Nest and well, it looked nothing like the bar in the movie. We told them we were tourists (as if they didn't know) and the bartender pulled out a photo album of the area and pictures taken when the movie was made. We met a couple from Arizona at the bar and they recommended the restaurant across the street as a good place to eat for lunch. They were right! We had a great lunch at the Seaport Grille. Kaptain says it was the best seafood meal he has ever had.
We stopped on the way out of town to take a picture of the Wives's Memorial and they were raising a bridge across the street to let a boat get through. I ran and got the pictures.
After Gloucester, we went back to the rest area, got our Motor Home and drove to on to Foxboro, Massachusetts.
