On arrival at Melbourne our first thoughts were on picking mum and dad up from the airport.
After being away for 3 months it was awesome to see them again. After being allowed into the arrivals desk we waited with a sign. it was an emotional pick up but a happy one.
We all headed into the southbank apartment. Ideally located next to the Eruka building, the tallest building in the southern hemisphere, it looked liked Xmas and new year was going to be good.

With Melbourne being so big and only having 12 days to do it all we had to prioitsed. All the sights included the gaol, fed square, the casino, Olympic park, river banks, botanical gardens, f1 race track, 360o building and the trams were all a positive in Melbourne.
We also went on a bike ride and a river cruise. The main highlight for us was going to the boxing day test at the MCG. The atmosphere was fantastic and Australia had the upper hand over Pakistan.

Spending Christmas day on St Kilda beach in +25 heat was a different experience for Amy but never the less memorable. There were no home cooked roast just a  meat feast on a free BBQ, what an amazing day.

After Amy meeting joy earlier in the week, she was invited to our new years eve party at the apartment. this ended up being a good night being topped off with some fabulous fireworks.
Melbourne is a lovely place but the rumor of 4 seasons in one day is just all too true. Saying bye to mum and dad who were heading to Brisbane was hard and we thank them soo much for giving us such an amazing time in Melbourne. we still had soo much of Australia left to see and also had the rest of our trip to do. bring on 2010.
