We got into Ironbridge gorge around 6pm the night before and got up the next morning lovely B&B hospitality with a full English breakfast. It was a bright and sunny day, great for sight seeing.

The Industrial Revolution was born in the Severn River Valley. In its glory days, this valley was an abundant source of iron ore and coal deposits along with a river for transport. The region gave rise to the first iron wheels, steam-powered locomotive, and cast-iron bridge built in 1779 (which the town is named after). Here men discovered how to mass-produce stong iron using clean burning coke (coal) instead of characoal which was rapidly exhausting the surrounding forrests. This is a very significant site of the Industrial Age.
