Where I stayed
Yep you guessed it! and early morning start! left Wellington hotel at about 4am and flew to a town called Alice Springs via Sydney.
Alice Springs is a a funny wee place, gateway to central Australia and the Outback and of course the great Aussie icon Uluru or known by many a white fella as Ayers Rock. We were there there to meet up with our tour group to do a 5day 4 night 4 wheel drive safari round the area with Wayoutback desert Safaris.
Did a great walking tour around Alice with a lady called Linda. She was very knowledgeable and had lots of anecdotes about Alice and its history. She had originally come out to teach at an outreach school for aborigine children so had a great understanding of all the problems facing them and an obvious respect for them as people and their culture.
