Oh Darwin - a whistlestop tour of this tiny city was just enough to catch the fun vibe. It seems that Darwin-dwellers have adopted the Asian way of life; slow, easy and relaxed. Well, Darwin is closer to Bali than pretty much any city actually in Australia!

We stayed in Youth Shack hostel which was really good actually. Very clean, a/c, swimming pool and bar. It was also really central. After a few Sunday afternoon beers we strolled towards Mindil Beach for the Sunset Market. We got there in time for a beautiful sunset along with a lot of other tourists on the packed beach. Then it was time to meander through various stalls selling everything from crocodile leather to didgeridoos. The main attraction was the huge variety of cuisine there was to choose to feast on! We opted for Sri-Lankan; three curries in a box for under $10!

After watching a Thai-style fireshow (which Sean participated in!) it was time for some home-made ice-cream! Mindil Beach had a bustling atmosphere and the good live music just made it even more fun!

So, even though we only had an overnight stop in the heart of the 'Top End' we really enjoyed our stay. Now, it's time to get back to nature and all its beauty. Next stop Litchfield National Park!
