Hoorah! We have finally been to the coast on our trip! What a wonderful place we chose!
Kep is a small fishing town with a sweet little beach and a few restaurants specializing in crab. We stayed here one night before we set off on our adventure across the gulf of Thailand to get to the beautiful Rabbit Island (Ko Tunsai)

We are still unsure of why it is called Rabbit Island. We didn't see any of those long eared creatures and it doesn't appear to resemble a rabbit in shape when you look at on the map!
So, after one night we took the 20 minute boat trip and arrived at the wonderful beach island. It was pretty much tourist-less compared to many of the other places we have visited so far and with only seven families living there, you can imagine the relaxed and tranquil atmosphere that surrounded us.

We stayed in a small and very basic beach bungalow (about 20 metres away from the sand!) for $5 a night between us, complete with our favourite thing now...a hammock!
For the three full days we were there, we hung around the beach, playing in the sea - which for the rainy season was pretty clear and we were lucky as there was no rain whilst we were there so we are actually a little sun-kissed now!

It was everything you would imagine a small paradise to be like. One day, we saw a guy from a restaurant climb up a 15-foot tall palm tree like a monkey so he could retrieve their staple food - the coconut!...Then that same evening, we went for a meal and Sean ordered crab and the chef came out and asked him to walk the short distance to the sea to choose his crab from the cage that had caught them that very day! Marvellous!

The beach was in the perfect location for viewing the stunning sunsets in the evening. I have never seen a sunset quite as incredible as the one we saw on our last night! The sky was a mix of oranges and yellows and lasted for ages until the sky turned a deep purple! How delightful!

It was such a brilliant place for us to have a few days of actual relaxing on a beach as we knew the next stop on our trip was going to be busy. Our boat journey back to Kep, however, wasn't quite as calm. The waves were very rough and the boat we travelled on was very small with a tiny motor on the back. We were fighting against the waves too and at one point I thought the boat was going to capsize! By the time we actually arrived back on dry land, we were the opposite to dry! We might as well have swam back!

Aaahhh...it can't all be perfect! Ha!
