Today we had our 1st day of exploring. I have cuddled a koala, stroked a croc and fed a kangaroo! We decided to take a river cruise to Lone pine koala sanctuary and have had a great day out! The cruise was great and they gave an interesting talk about life on the river which we really enjoyed. Sad however, to see all the flood damage from the floods in 2010. The weather was not quite as nice as yesterday - sun and showers and it got pretty chilly on the boat. However it's forecast to be lovely tomorrow again.
The koala sanctuary was great! I got my piccie taken cuddling a koala (tourist to-do list - tick.) I got some great photo opportunies - see below! And we enjoyed feeding the kangaroos who also enjoyed a bit of fuss!

We think we might spend another night in brisbane and spend tomorrow exploring the city and the river front. Then possibly go to stradbroke island which is a island near to brisbane with some nice walks and pretty lakes as well as snorkelling opportunities. We will play it by ear and spend either 1 or 2 nights here and then work our way down to Lismore where we will be living for a month or so whilst we search for accomodation in Byron Bay. Although we are enjoying exploring a bit, we also both looking forward to having a base, being able to unpack and meet some people!

Here's a few interesting facts about oz and surrounding area:

1) A great white shark weighs the same as 112 suitcases. (hmmm my size cases or wyns? He bought just 8kg whilst i bought 30 something...)
2) You get a hefty on the spot fine if you get caught chewing gum in Singapore as it is illegal. (Harsh?!)
3) Australian kids officially get a raw deal when it comes to school uniform. (Yes this is undeniably fact and not opinion!) Much worse than they wear on neighbours or home and away. Think mens leather shoes (for girls) yellow ankle socks, checked skirts to about 4 inches below knee and a hat that looks like its missing a few corks... Yes australia is a wonderful place to live - unless you happen to be a fashion conscious teenager!
