Well we have finally arrived after a very long journey! Took me 32 hours but Wyn about 40 hrs as he couldnt get a direct bus to heathrow. Surprisingly I dont feel too tired yet (perhaps it'll hit me tomorrow) However Wyn is suffering a bit of jet lag. Think its helps that I'm used to changing my body clock for night shifts.

Aside from being long and a tad tedious, the journey went well. We arrived slightly early even. Would definately recommend singapore airlines - even the inflight food was ok! We stopped briefly at singapore which was a very impressive airport! They have a spa, swimming pool, cinema, huge shopping mall and even a butterfly garden! Everything there was immaculate and spacious - almost wished we were there longer!!

We arrived in Oz at 7pm and headed straight for our hostel - pleased to find out they had given us a free upgrade so for one night only we enjoyed the luxury of a fridge, air con and ensuite bathroom! (Better not get used to it!) The hostels pretty good. Lots of communal facilities inc free wifi, bar with entertainment every evening,  and a roof top swimming pool with fantasic views of the city at night! Its well situated with city centre a 10 minute walk, bus and train station a 5 min walk and loads of bars and restaurants a 2 min walk! Even the AHPRA offices where I needed to finish off my application for a medical license were conveniently a 5 min walk from here. (Very lucky as its the only one in queensland!)

We've not done anything hugely exciting yet but have had a very productive day sorting bank accounts, phone numbers, tax numbers, medicare and my license to practice medicine. Was all so easy to sort out - much less red tape than in the UK and everyone is super friendly and laid back. Brisbane seems like a great city from what little we have seen. Has a London feel about it with huge sky scrapers and impressive buildings yet its much more slow paced and less busy - not like london where you risk your life everytime you cross the road! The weather is great too. Temperatures in 20's so tshirt and jeans weather! Plan for tomorrow is to go to Lone Pine Koala sanctuary via a river cruise out of the city - chance to feed some kangaroos and cuddle some koalas! I'll try and get a few piccies to upload here.

Anyone who wants my new number, send me a message and I'll send it to you. Also my skype ID is leanne0333 so add me if you fancy a chat sometime as its free :-) Best time to call is late morning/early afternoon uk time as we are 9 hours ahead.
Miss you all but loving Oz!

hey hun - glad you made it out there safely! It took me 2-3 days to get over the jetlag and reset my body clock, fortunately the sydney night life prevents this from being a bore :)

*hugs*

No spiders yet sheeja! Tho I did hear something lizard sized scuttle away in the bush yesterday! And bizarrely saw a man carrying a pet lizard on his shoulder in town!
Not checked out Sydney yet save but I will bear it in mind that the nightlife comes highly recommended!
Mum was great to speak on skype earlier! Speak soon x
