From the Mullet peninsula, we drove along the North coast towards Sligo. Hardly mentioned in our travel book was Downpatrick Head. A sign posted at the gate reminds visitors that, unlike some of the country's other cliffed attractions, this one is not barricaded and those wandering along the edges should practice extreme caution. As Leann enjoyed the view from the lower level, Robyn trekked her way to the looming cliff edges to take in the views. Again, its surprising it hasn’t been raved about in the travel guides as this was one of the most amazing areas we’ve seen. Keep it on the down low though. Becoming bombarded with tourists will inevitably result in restrictive fencing etc and the experience just wouldn’t be the same.
