Our decision of which Aran island to go to was very similar to the Goldie Locks and the Three Bears storybook rhyme. You know how it went... "This bed is too soft. This bed is too hard. But THIS bed is juuust right". Similar thought process applied in our island decision dilemma. Minus the soft bed of course.

There's three Aran islands off the West coast of Ireland. The largest and most popular amongst tourists being Inis Mor. The midsized and quietest being Inis Meain. And lastly, the smallest and according to our research, the perfect in-between of solitude and sightseeing is Inis Oirr. So, for our one day island excursion, Inis Oirr seamed “juuuust right”.

Lunch in the warm sun room of the Fisherman’s Cottage was followed by some aimless wandering around the little island resulting from our decision to opt out of purchasing the two euro island map (extreme cost cutting at its finest). Our afternoon stroll around the island was filled with some Sunday sing-a-long's, rocky shorelines, a few hairy locals, and finally some kicking back on the sandy beach before hopping onto the return ferry to the mainland.

Improving our sense of direction,
Leann and Robyn
