Flag of Ireland  , County Offaly,
Monday, August 1, 2011

After our time at the serene Beara Peninsula, we made the drastic atmosphere switch and made our way to a music festival. Not just any music festival, but one held at a castle. We had lucked out and were able to volunteer at the festival and so, we picked up a tent and some sleeping bags and made our way to Tullamore, County Offaly.

Castlepalooza was small in terms of outdoor music festivals but was a really fun weekend and a great memory for the both of us. We were the official "Merch Tent" girls for the weekend and both agree that we got the better end of the deal. Our few short shifts of selling festival attire (in a tent that was conveniently located directly in between both stages!) was far outweighed by the free entry into the festival, camping for the weekend, meals and drinks and of course, the opportunity to meet some really nice new friends.

So, lesson learned from Castlepalooza (besides to always bring your own hand sanitizer to outdoor events) is that whenever possible, try to volunteer at events. Not only does it save you some money, but it really does give you a totally different “insider” feel to the event and most likely will result in new friends and great memories.

One thing we didn't know until we arrived was that the castle has a spooky history. Haunted in fact, as most were describing throughout the weekend. Torture dungeons and all!

T-shirt anyone?
