Today is my last day in the Villa. This whole experience has been amazing- living in a historical villa, traveling to a new place every weekend, eating great food, and of course learning SO much.
I feel so cultured- when I was in the Galleria Nazionale D'arte Antica a Palazzo Barberini in Rome and discussing art with my friends we started talking about the other art we had seen....not even thinking about it I said..."oh well in the Accademia in Venice and in the Uffizi in Florence...." After saying that I seriously stopped and said "Who talks like that?". I'm proud to say I have a favorite painting and a favorite piece of sculpture and that I've seen them up close and personal. Not only has my knowledge about art increased, but I learned a ton in my cinema class as well.
The past few days have been bittersweet- on Tuesday night we ate outside and had a huge meal. After dinner the director of the program stood up and we clapped and cheered for all of our teachers and the staff that runs the villa. It was kinda funny to me- sitting there, drinking wine, thanking our chef on the lawn of a villa in ITALY!!! I told my dad later that night it kinda felt like rich kid summer camp- I'm definitely not calling myself a rich kid, but that kind of stuff just doesn't happen in real life.
I want to thank everyone for reading my blog. It was so much fun for me to share this experience with all of you. Everyday I signed on to see new comments and they always made my day. I wasn't really expecting many people to read this- mostly just my parents and Aunt Deb...but I've had over 500 views in the past six weeks. Grazie Mille!
So back to real life I go- I board my plane out of Florence at 10am and will land in Detroit at 7:47pm (it was meant to be :) )
Ciao!

... and I've loved every minute of it... Ciao, baby!!!
I was lucky enough to travel a lot with my family and I believe it was as important as formal education. It definitely rounds your character and enhances your acceptance of other cultures and people. I must say that I admire the way you chronicled your whole trip. You have great outlook and a wondrous joy for what you have seen.
Way to go, Leah!
P.S. (now don't go bashing people over the head with your urbane U-M Europeein' b#llsh!t. Rome yada, Florence yada, Venice was a toilet. GO STATE!
