We checked about 0630 to head out to roskilde and set up and were at the roskilde gates by about 1030 to be greeted by a huge line up. The area outside the gates was already a terrible mess where hundreds (possibly thousands) of camped outside the grounds the night before in order to get in first thing. after predictions of over 2 hours in the queue we were in in about an hour and a half and began the trek around looking for somewhere to set up. the camping areas were all themed and the only place we could find somewhere was in the "Quiet" area N. So we set up in a nice grassy area on top of a hill with great efficiency, tobar and i on poles and tape, leah on directions and tearing tape. We would be great on a survivor challenge! We then further showed our skills by setting up our norwiegen neighbours' tent which they were having difficulties with.
Soon after we one of the girls shaving a blokes head and after about 2 months without a haircut i excitedly rushed over and asked to be next. This proved to be a bit of a mistake as they were only beard trimmers and the battery atrted to go flat as she was doing it. so not only was it extremely painfull i was left looking pretty silly.
we then went to get some beer to stop me feeling silly and numb the pain. 155kr (about $40 aud including 24kr can deposit or $34 if you take your cans back) for a carton of tuborg, which was very tasty stuff even when its not cold. the cartons are cold when you buy them but with no eskys and no real access to ice except by the cupfull they would get warm uite quickly. but the first one of the day is usually coolish if you just leave it outside over night.
one of the highlights of the day was leah showing us her guns (see photo)
woke up the next day to fid one of our chairs had been stolen, very dissapionting
crepes for bfast
the festival could pretty much be described in 3 seperate sections, Camping Roskilde, weather and music.
the first day of music was due to be the 5th so we had quite a few days to get ready for the action. on the 2nd we went into the town of Roskilde, for a look around and it started to rain. when we got back to the fest at about 4 it was pissing down and we sank into the mud as we walked back to our tent. it rained all night but we woke in the morning and the sun was out for a beautiful day, we manged to dry our clothes and have a swim in the lake and a smile returned to leah's face.
