July 2nd and I have boxes everywhere, some packed and in storage, some packed and scattered around my place, others half packed or waiting to be packed. Chaos reigns in my surreal world. By this time next week, all my stuff will be in storage except what I pack into the car.
My friend Tim, who has traveled around the world during the past year, emailed and tells me to keep my packing simple. I'll try but I have a pretty big stack of stuff. The difference is he traveled with a backpack of stuff, no need to camp and no dog with him! Still I'll try to keep things simple. I find that the closer I get to leaving and the more stuff I pack, the less stuff I want to keep.
Keesha sheds fur by the minute in the heat. I guess my next months will be fur covered where ever I go.
It's funny how details multiply as the deadline approaches. Today was an anxious day as I contemplate how in the world all my stuff is going to squeeze into a 10x10 storage space. My friend Loreena tells me not to worry, it's like a puzzle. Realistically I don't think I can be on the road by 07/07/07. I will be out of my duplex though with all my stuff in the car. Homeless in a way, but not really. The friends and family who surround me provide home even if my address is a PO Box now.
Keesha reminded me that we are on a journey to discover her roots; it's not just about me packing and wringing my hands about my human stuff.
