Yesterday we set off around 11am to hire bicycles and tour the Hawkes Bay wineries.
Our first port of call happened to be a brewery and it was a must we try the 6 out of 12 beers and ciders. We opted for apple, pear and ginger cider, the latter being rather strange plus a couple of ales. The brewery cafe / tasting area was cute so we enjoyed our tasting in the sun but did not linger as we had set out to visit 3 wineries as well.
Our first winery on the route was Brookfields, a pretty farm amongst the vines and orchards and she, the owners daughter, forced 9 wines upon us!
By then we were actally a little tipsy but got on our bikes and headed with great speed to winery number 2.
We never got that far, as all of a sudden the heavens opened and heavy rain stopped us in our tracks.
And it would not stop, so we ended up flying the white flag and cycled the 5km back to Napier in pouring rain. We were drenched by the time we got back and very sober, so hot showers and hot chocolate in front of the box was the only thing to do.

And that seemed to be that day. Very relaxing but rather wet!
