When we started planning the Holiday, we started with the pretense that it would have to offer some new places to visit.  But at the same time our Love of the Carolina's and Virginia pulls us closer to those States, there are still places in the States we haven't been too.  New England being one of them, but for this year that will have to wait.

This year we are including a number of places we have visited before, such as Myrtle Beach and Charlotte Area, but also a chance to stay in area's we may have only visited briefly or bypassed on previous trips.

With the passing of Dad last September - this year is more complex than previous years, finding the right person to look after the cat, to how we get to the Rail Station, it is very easy to take for granted how easy things were previously.  However, we really cannot wait to get away from what has been a 'challenging' 12 months.

So the day starts with a Bus Ride to St Neots Rail Station, Train to Kings Cross, then Tube to Heathrow.  We have a 3:05pm Flight to Boston, MA.  The first time either of us have visited Boston, which I guess we remember from Cheers in the 80's - for those who can't remember this may help - Cheers Intro.  We are staying at a Airport Hotel, so no real traveling when we arrive, indeed I think we just have to walk out of the terminal and pretty much into the Hotel reception.

Each day we hope to post pictures and a few words - to show the sights and sounds of the day.  It is likely to be a really diverse 23 days, its a shame we will miss the Royal Bank Holiday in the UK, but at the same time we will be in Williamsburg, so it will be interesting to take in how the US and especially the parts which have the closest ties to the UK deal with it.

So the journey went well, without a real hitch.  The Bus from Cambourne to St Neots had to take a diversion, with the Bus driver taking directions from the travelers through St Neots as he didn't know it but that was the only thing not to plan.  The flight left the gate on time and landed in Boston at around 5:15pm.

We were through immigration and out of the Airport in 30 minutes, the fastest I think we have ever had in the States.  Did help though the flight was half empty.

We checked into the Hotel and are on the 7th Floor overlooking the Airport, although next to the airport you can't hear anything.  We went for a walk around it last night - temperatures are very pleasant about 70 degrees.

Today we are off to Boston to explore it, we will be visiting Boston twice on the trip, for a day today, and then two days at the end of the Holiday.  But today will be a lot of walking, we should be able to get an idea where we would like to visit on the last two days.

So far though everything is going really well, not many pictures from yesterday, as it was traveling all day,

Lots of Love
Les & Caroline xx
