We had an early start to get to the airport and then a great flight on the A380 to Paris. We had booked out seats before we left Brisbane, but I asked if it was possible to have exit row seats - and they gave us exits with only the two of us, so it was great to stretch out! We did disappoint an Asian man who thought he would sit in them anyway as the plane was nearly full and no one had claimed them. I know Talyse you are not a fan, but I watched the Justin Bieber movie and it was so interesting. It is a really great to see someone have so much determination to achieve something and a very young single Mum who supported him all the way and brought him up with strong Christian principles. The worst thing about the A380 is the amount of people who have to get through customs and we were near the back (very difficult for me who likes to be at the front of the line!) - luckily it is not like Asia where they have to take your photo - they hardly looked at you and just stamp the passport.
We caught the train into Paris to a station near the Louvre where our little hotel is situated. It is such a handy position to everything, even though the rooms are a little small! The lift could only fit 1 of us and our bag to get up to the third floor. A little smaller than the suite in Dubai. And the temperature is a lot cooler which is pleasant for sight seeing - I have had to wear a light cardigan most of the time though. No rain though - so can’t complain at all! We decided to walk around some of the city sights - how beautiful Paris is - Louvre - through the park (stopping to sit on deck chairs and watch boats sailing in the fountains) to the Champs Elysees and up to the Arc de Triomphe. They must have known we were arriving as they had the full band out and in full uniform to stop the cars on the Champs Elysees and march up under the Arc de Triomphe (I did notice there was some wreath and war heroes with lots of medals marching behind the band - so maybe it wasn’t our welcome to Paris). We sat in a lovely authentic Paris sidewalk cafe and had some dinner and by this stage warm up a little. Before we knew it was 10.30 - a lot of daylight hours for exploring!

Of course it was your welcome to Paris. Why would you doubt that?
Enjoying reading your diary... Keep up the good work of making us all jealous.
