Show trip route
We boarded the boat in Puerto Montt with about 250 other passengers from what we could estimate. There was lots of waiting and more waiting to get the show on the road, but it was just the beginning of our relaxing time in the Patagonian channels. You will see in our pictures that we did a lot of standing and looking at the different scenery. The weather changed quite frequently too
We did see some incredible sights. We saw Pio XI glacier on the 3rd day. The ferry took us very close before turning around to get back on track. We also stopped at a Village called Puerto Eden which had only 180 villagers. They were part of the original settlers in the area. The government has an agreement with Navimag to take supplies to the village and act as a mode of transportation for people and post. You will see pics of boats bring supplies and people to our ferry. We had the best weather on the 3rd day as well. We even had a few blue skies!
You ask "what else did you do?"...well, what any good traveler would do..play cards, watched movies they provided, read books, and drink lots of wine. Can I shock some of you? LAYTON read 90 pages of a book in one day...baffeling. Seriously, he reads lots of magazines, news, internet, but NEVER books...It is called "Marching Powder". We would suggest it to anyone.
We stayed in bunk beds with lockers to keep our stuff secure. We were SO lucky to have great folks from Ireland to share our space with. Niall and Linda were great, both from Dublin. We played cards with them and shared lots of wine. If you guys are reading this....we still talk about how great it was to share a bunk area with you guys!
Something else worth mentioning was the amount of movement from the water on day 2
Mom and Dad, you will appreciate the picture of me and the menu...they served MEATLOAF of all things...ugh! We survived though. There was MORE than enough food when all you do is sit around all day!
